  OFFICERS SABER & SCABBARD W.K.C PRE WW1 1889 PATTERN GERMAN ARMY ARTILLERY

  Offered is an original lion's head saber from 1889, worn by an army officer of the German Artillery in the years 1889-1918. The saber has a classic high-profile lion's head pommel with ruby eyes and a wire-wrapped fishskin handle with full wire wrap. Crossed artillery guns are depicted on the crossguard. Note the gold plated finish which is in good condition. The slightly curved nickel blade with decorative etching is marked with the W.K.C.from Solingen. Steel scabbard in original black paint with two rings. The choke in the scabbard holds the blade with appropriate resistance. The total length of the saber with the scabbard is 1000 mm, the width of the blade at the base is 25 mm.
